Objects and papers relating to the partnership and careers of Manchester-born dramatist Jack Rosenthal and award-winning actress Maureen Lipman will be on display in this exhibition.

Strike a pose: 50 years of football and fashion // Present until 27 August 2013 @ National Football Museum, nationalfootballmuseum.com
This exhibition will cover the arrival of European players in the 1990s and the rise of urban street culture offered new sartorial choices. In recent years, footballer’s wives, especially those with their own high-profile careers, have become a key influence on women’s style choices.

Raqib Shaw // Present until 27 May 2013 @ Manchester Art Gallery, manchestergalleries.org
This is Raqib Shaw’s largest solo exhibition to date, featuring 28 recent works. From large scale paintings and sculptures to works on paper, the works are being drawn together from private collections around the world.

Marking ten years since the start of the 2003 Iraq War, a new photographic display by award-winning British war photographer Sean Smith reveals the collision of two worlds where local civilians and military personnel were forced to co-exist.

BUPA Greater Manchester Run

Britain’s premier 10km race around Manchester which is live on BBC television returns for the eleventh year on 26 May 2013. With 33,000 runners, the Bupa Great Manchester Run is Britain’s premier 10km race and was first staged in 2003. Thousands of runners from across the UK, of all ages and abilities take part in the event and raise vast amounts of money for good causes and charities across the globe.

Manchester’s Canal Cruises run up until 26 August 2013 and feature 3 different cruises.

Foodies Festival

The UK’s largest celebration of food and drink, the Foodies Festival, will see visitors flock to feast on the vast array of culinary activities for the third consecutive year at Tatton Park. 2013 also sees the introduction of a dedicated Chocolate Theatre to showcase the world of chocolate and confectionary with daily demonstrations from David Greenwood-Haigh of Divine Chocolate. There will also be a wine village, bringing together producers and wine regions from across the world including Shawbury Vintners and Vicomte de Romanet.

Manchester 7s Rugby Festival

The Manchester Rugby 7s is a 3 Day International Rugby and Music Festival taking place at Broughton Park FC just a 5 minute drive from Manchester city centre. The MR7s is the largest festival of its kind in the world. It welcomes up to 200 male and female participating teams from the UK and abroad.
