A new group exhibition exploring heartache, breaking up, disenchantment and the dark side of the funfair.
Portraits at The Whitworth
Saturday 14 February – Sunday 22 November
This exhibition puts on display the people who are gathered together by the Whitworth’s collections, crossing centuries, continents and media. Not all the works are conventional portraits. Instead, there is a focus on the artists.
The Gintastic Festival at The Palace Hotel
Saturday 13 June
Tickle your taste buds with a variety of different gins and explore a botanical infused world, where flavour meets complexity. Live entertainment and tasting sessions will set the mood for you to lose yourself in the gin you are tasting and the conversations you’re having.
Parklife at Heaton Park
Saturday 6 – Sunday 7 June
Europe’s largest BBQ and music festival returns to Albert Square this May for Manchester’s big weekend of meat, music and mayhem with Grandmaster Flash, The Heavy, Levi Roots and Cuban Bros.
Taylor Swift at Manchester Arena
Wednesday 24 June
Seven-time Grammy winner Taylor Swift will bring The 1989 World Tour to Manchester on Wednesday 24 June – her first live show in the city since her sold-out date at the Arena on the Speak Now tour in 2011.
An Evening with The Overtones at The Bridgewater Hall
Monday 29 June
The Overtones continue to reboot classic sounds for contemporary audiences. February 2015 saw the release of their fourth collection ‘Sweet Soul Music’ – a tribute to doo-wop and soul pioneers such as The Drifters, Al Green, Marvin Gaye and The Temptations.
The Manchester Day Parade

Manchester Day will explode into the city centre with a fantastic parade and lots of exciting things to do across the city centre. This year’s theme – Game On! will transform the city into an animated playground of music, outdoor theatre and procession in a celebration of play and Manchester’s place in a global gaming world.
The Great Manchester Cycle
Sunday 28 June
Returning for a fourth year the Great Manchester Cycle is back with three distance options to choose from, 13, 26 and 52 miles, the event caters for all ages and abilities.
Wicked at The Lowry
Wednesday 3 June – Saturday 25 July
The global musical phenomenon that has been casting its spell over audiences across the world for years, flies into Manchester for a strictly limited run this summer.
The Ghost Train at Royal Exchange Theatre
Thursday 14 May – Saturday 20 June
A group of passengers are left stranded at a remote railway station, facing the prospect of a night in the waiting room. But when the old stationmaster warns them about the phantom train that haunts the tracks after dark, the evening starts to take one chilling turn after another.
