Exhibitions

Ryan Gander: Make every show like it’s your last at Manchester Art Gallery
Tuesday 3 July – Sunday 14 September
A major new exhibition of work by renowned British conceptual artist Ryan Gander. He will subvert your expectations with playful ideas and visual puzzles.

George Best – ICON at Manchester United Museum
Ongoing
This exhibition celebrates George’s career on the pitch and in the public eye, illustrating how the young Irish teenager rose to become the first global pin-up of British football.

Mad Hatter’s Tea Party at Play Factore
Friday 4 July
Party in Wonderland with Alice and rabbit stilt walkers, watch eye popping aerial acrobatics, meet Play Factore’s very own Mad Hatter and drool over the ultimate sweet cone goodie bags.

Manchester Children’s Book Festival
Thursday 26 June – Sunday 6 July
A biennial festival that brings many of the world’s best children’s writers to Manchester, providing a wonderful opportunity for children to meet and be inspired by their ‘literary superheroes’.

Beer ‘n’ Blues at Band on the Wall
Friday 11 – Sunday 13 July
A full weekend of Beer ’n’ Blues. Band on the Wall presents the finest artists that the UK’s blues scene has to offer together with a 20 pump bar featuring brews from local breweries Green Mill, Hornbeam, Brightside, First Chop and many more.

Summer in the City at Castlefield Bowl
Thursday 10 – Friday 11 July
Set in the stunning surroundings of Castlefield Docks, this brand new festival brings some of Manchester’s most famous names back to the city. Pixies will headline Thursday and legendary local band James will be performing on the Friday.

Love Story by Erich Segal at Octagon Theatre, Bolton
Thursday 19 June – Saturday 12 July
Love Story is inspired by Segal’s best-selling novel and subsequent 1970s smash-hit film. It is widely regarded as one of the most romantic films of all time and this stage version by Stephen Clark will be the first time it has been performed outside of the West End.

Around the World in 80 Days at Royal Exchange
Thursday 17 July – Saturday 16 August
Be  transported around the world via 108 characters, 33 scenes and some wonderfully funny feats of imagination in the Royal Exchange’s unique space.

Outdoors

The RHS Flow Show at Tatton Park
Wednesday 23 – Sunday 27 July
Seize the last chance of the season to pick-up expert advice, shop for all your gardening needs and enjoy top class dining at this spectacular summer finale.

Sparkle in the Park
Friday 11 – Sunday 13 July
This ever popular event draws crowds from far and wide. An inclusive celebration of gender diversity, it is free to attend and open to all members of the transgender community and their friends.

Le Tour de France
Sunday 6 July
The third largest sporting event in the world rolls through Rochdale. A spectacle of entertainment and an occasion for all the family to enjoy and remember forever.

The Great Manchester Swim at Salford Quays
Saturday 19 July
Staged in the vibrant Salford Quays, this unique ‘dock to dock’ course is an unforgettable experience in the open water. Suitable for swimmers of all abilities, you can enjoy this event safe in the knowledge expert safety kayakers will be with you every stroke of the way.

Tour of the Month

The Football History of Manchester
