Manchester Christmas Markets celebrate 15 years in the city this year, and you’ve guessed it, they’re bigger and better than ever before.
This year the markets are spread across nine city centre locations, just follow the market trail and soak up the festive atmosphere as it winds through the city centre, taking in some of Manchester’s most picturesque streets and squares.
There are 300 chalet-chic wooden houses to tempt you with local and European gifts, crafts, jewellery, clothes and toys and don’t miss the amazing array of food and drink.
Another must-visit festive favourite in Manchester is the open-air ice rink at Spinningfields. Nestled amongst the skyscrapers of Manchester’s business district, just down the road from the Brazennose Street markets, the rink is always a hit with families, couples and groups of friends alike.
A great way to unwind after spending hours meandering around all the beautiful market stalls and whizzing around the ice is a visit to the sumptuous Bali Health Lounge, where you can indulge in one of the Christmas pamper packages.
If you’re planning an overnight stay check out the Marriott Victoria & Albert Hotel, just a five minute walk from the markets, which has special room rate available for the duration of the Christmas Markets.
No visit is complete without hitting the shops and Manchester really is a shopper’s paradise at Christmas. You can shop leading fashion brands on New Cathedral Street, go luxury in Harvey Nichols, House of Fraser and Selfridges, enjoy dozens of high street brands in Manchester Arndale or choose from an eclectic mix of vintage and new in the Northern Quarter – Manchester has it all.
If you plan ahead and book your train travel in advance with CrossCountry you could pay less, leaving you more to spend on festive treats – brilliant!
