3 ideas for this weekend in Manchester (30 August – 1 September, 2013)

After a lovely bank holiday and a short week back t’werk, this weekend provides another bumper crop of events. Here’s our top 3 suggestions for what to get up to, plus some bonus ideas from our social media friends.

  • Celebrate a final weekend of art, music and performance in Whitworth Park before the Whitworth Art Gallery closes temporarily to complete its historic refurbishment and major redevelopment. Whitworth Weekending features a full family programme with highlights such as Acid Brass and Six White Horses. The Gallery will remain open until midnight, after which the Whitworth will close until summer 2014.
  • The Ancoats Art Fair offers you a great opportunity to browse the best in local artwork, find out about local art clubs and see the regeneration work taking place in the historic area of Ancoats.
  • Taking place today and tomorrow the Rochdale Feel Good Festival returns for its sixth year to take over Rochdale town centre. The music and food events features The Feeling, The Crookes, The Sundowners, Screaming Maldini, Simon Rimmer, Aazam Ahmad, Andrew Nutter, Alison Seagrave  and the Skyline Circus Arts.
