With weather this good it would be rude not to get out and enjoy yourself. Here’ our top 3 suggestions for what you can get up to in Manchester this weekend, plus some bonus suggestions from our social media followers.

  • The Great Manchester Swim takes place at The Quays on Saturday, so head down to cheer on the competitors taking on the one mile dock-to-dock course staged against the backdrop of the impressive MediaCityUK. Spectators will also be treated to some live music with some tasty street food on hand too. If you stay at The Quays until 9.30pm you’ll be treated to Water Fools, a theatre performance on the surface of the Manchester Ship Canal.
  • The Summer of Magic at The John Rylands Library launches this weekend with a showing of Walt Disney’s “Sword in the Stone” in the Historic Reading Room, and visitors may even catch a glimpse of John Rylands’ very own Library Dragon. The event kicks off a summer of events at the Library ranging from making your own charms through to designing the magical maps in J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings.
  • The awesome 24:7 Theatre Festival returns this weekend, kicking off eight days of unique theatre that delivers innovative drama and nurtures the writing, directing, performing and producing talent of tomorrow. The festival sees performances across three great Manchester venues 2022NQ, Three Minute Theatre (3MT) and Co-operatives New Century House.
