If you are looking for the wow factor this summer look no further than Manchester, the region is brimming with great events and offers to entertain you and a loved one all summer long.

Lovers of the arts are in for a treat as Manchester International Festival kicks off tomorrow with a raft of new, original work which transforms the city into a festival zone. Plus, later this month the 24:7 Theatre Festival showcases 11 premieres over eight days featuring fire stations, period dramas and made-up monsters.

Another must do activity is a trip to the famous MOSI (Museum of Science & Industry) which opens its major new exhibition Brains: The Mind as Matter later this month. Featuring real brains, artworks, photography and more, Brains follows the long quest to manipulate and decipher the most unique and mysterious of human organs.

If you’re planning a romantic evening, Sapporo Teppanyaki offers the wow factor and has a great 3 course Early Diner Menu. Also check out the Rekorderlig Summer Garden at Great Northern for an alfresco drink before watching a performance of the smash-hit musical Ghost at the beautiful Manchester Opera House.

Despite it being the off-season, football fans will not be disappointed as they can explore the magnificent National Football Museum and its current exhibition Strike a Pose, which looks at the relationship between football and fashion through the ages. You can also take a look behind the scenes at both of Manchester’s world-famous football clubs Manchester City and Manchester United and join one of their excellent tours.

Fear not if you favour fashion over football as Manchester city centre is brimming with a great mix of designer, high street and boutique stores. Visitors in August should also check out the Summer Arts and Craft Market, which provides a prime opportunity to stock up on some unique gifts, homewares and design pieces.

There’s also plenty to see and do across the region, so take all the stress out of travelling and make your money go further with a reduced rate FirstDay or FirstWeek bus ticket, leaving you more to spend on your loved one.

And finally a great way to unwind after a hard day’s sight seeing is a trip to Bali Health Lounge where you can be rejuvenated with one of the great Summer Pamper Packages.
