3 ideas for this weekend in Manchester (26 -28 April, 2013)

Manchester is ready and waiting for lots of lovely visitors to descend this weekend. Here’s our top 3 suggestions for what to get up to once you arrive, plus some bonus suggestions from our Twitter and Facebook friends.

  • On Saturday Gallery Oldham opens its new Worn to be Wild exhibition of costumes, inspired by wildlife and the evolution of fashion through the ages. From a medieval deer to a contemporary hedgehog, each costume has been carefully designed and constructed by dress designer and textile artist Kate Plumtree.

  • On Sunday pack up your best cheering voice and head over to Trafford to support the runners taking part in the Great Manchester Marathon. The race village and finish line will be located by the world-famous Old Trafford football stadium. Other landmarks on the new route, which heads through the Trafford Quays area, Sale and Altrincham, include IWM North and MediaCityUK.

  • The Little Northern Contemporary Craft Fair takes place on Sunday bringing high quality craft from leading designer-makers to Altrincham Grammar School for Boys. From the organisers of the award-winning Great Northern Contemporary Craft Fair, the event will feature over 40 specially selected designer makers and artists from the region selling a range of hand-made work, from unique jewellery and fashion accessories to beautiful things for the home. Go on, treat yourself!
